A sequence shot at Gniezno Wask. on 12 November 2001, showing how a standard gauge wagon was loaded onto transporters. In previous years this task had required about four men, but now there were just two - similar economies elsewhere had seen brake vans eliminated at Sompolno and Dobre, as well as brakemen at the latter location. Although PKP ended narrow gauge operations a few weeks after this scene was shot, the two men seen here continued working here under the new administration for quite a few years - I think the last time I saw the driver was on the Sroda line in 2014 when a Lxd2 was hired to them from Gniezno, but freight traffic at Gniezno finally ceased in about 2008 and the tourist services to Przybrodzin haven't run since 2015.
The wagon seen being loaded here was taken to Witkowo, but I don't have any video of the journey because I was on the loco and driving it part of the way. I'd had a previous footplate ride at Gniezno in 1995, but then the motive power was a Px48 steam locomotive.
